On the 8 th Anniversary of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (also known as the Istanbul Convention), the European scenario is not uniform: on the one hand, there is a growing awareness of the need to fight the phenomenon with strong determination; on the other hand, some setbacks must be noted, such as the Turkey’s withdrawal from Istanbul Convention.
In this context, the meeting and debate between Italian and Turkish scholars, with the precious contributions of European and national institutions’ members, was an important opportunity to assess the current situation, while seeking a common cultural ground with a glance towards the future.
