Romano Paolo Coppini, docente di storia contemporanea presso la Facoltà di Scienze Politiche dell'Università di Pisa, si è occupato a lungo di storia dei ceti dirigenti toscani ed italiani in età moderna e contemporanea. Negli ultimi anni ha concentrato la sua attenzione sulle vicende dell'ateneo pisano, partecipando alla Storia dell'Università di Pisa (1737-1861) (Pisa, Plus, 2000)
